This device is designed for users who want a stable, local, and cloud-free smart home experience, particularly for critical devices like locks, sirens, and thermostats. Powered by the advanced Silicon Labs EFR32ZG23 chip, it brings the latest Z-Wave 800 protocol directly to platforms like Home Assistant, offering enhanced performance, security, and power management compared to previous generations.

The Dongle-PZG23 boasts several key features for superior connectivity. Its Z-Wave 800 Series support ensures improved efficiency, while Z-Wave Long Range (ZWLR) technology enables direct point-to-point communication up to an impressive 1000 meters in open spaces, eliminating the need for mesh hops for distant devices. Security is paramount, with the built-in S2 security standard encrypting all communication, and SmartStart offering easy, secure pairing via QR codes. Operating on a dedicated 868 MHz EU frequency, it works interference-free alongside WiFi and Zigbee devices. This dongle is also designed to work alongside existing Zigbee coordinators on the same Home Assistant server, allowing both protocols to run simultaneously and independently.

Technical specifications include the Silicon Labs EFR32ZG23 chip (ARM Cortex-M33 @ 78 MHz) with 512 KB Flash and 64 KB RAM. It operates on the Z-Wave 800 Series protocol at 868 MHz (EU frequency) and supports Z-Wave Long Range. Security features include Z-Wave S2 and SmartStart. The dongle has an external, adjustable 2 dBi antenna with an SMA connector and uses a USB Type-A interface with a CP2102N bridge. It is powered via USB (5V/500mA) and comes with an included USB extension cable to minimize electromagnetic interference. The housing is a combination of aluminum, PC, and ABS, and it operates within a temperature range of -10°C to +60°C. The SONOFF Dongle-PZG23 comes with the official SONOFF firmware only. It is plug-and-play recognized by Home Assistant via Z-Wave JS and is also compatible with openHAB.

Included in the box is the SONOFF Dongle-PZG23, a 2 dBi external antenna, and a USB extension cable. Please note that this dongle only supports official SONOFF firmware. For optimal signal stability, it is recommended to use the included USB extension cable or a USB 2.0 port, and ensure your Z-Wave devices are also on the EU frequency (868 MHz). This device is not compatible with Homey or Homey Pro due to their built-in Z-Wave radios.
